Pre-order packages for Harvey Pekar’s Upward, Not Northward 12” LP are now available in the Escapist Records store. The vinyl is available on three different color variations. In conjunction our friends at New Noise Magazine are hosting a stream of a brand new song titled “The Fifth Beast,” which can be streamed here. The album is due out July 16th.

Blue Crush, by Sweet Weapons

Emo/Indie out of Albuquerque, New Mexico

The first time I heard Sweet Weapons was live at a local venue in my city that has since closed down (RIP Blastomat). It was an eight band show and they were opening up for Basement, Dead End Path, Daylight, and Soul Search. For being such a small band, they had so much energy and I was immediately blown away their cohesive sound. The sound is what brings this band alive; it’s something I haven’t really heard before. The mixture of slightly strange guitar riffs, piercing vocals, and catchy drums makes Sweet Weapons a winner. The band has released a demo, this ep, and I think are in the midst of releasing something new soon. The drummer is also the owner of the Gasworks in New Mexico I believe, so that’s pretty cool.

Put on your headphones and sink into a strange new world with this rock jam.
