Light Years - Just Between Us
(This was the first record I ever bought. I got it when they played with Citizen and Turnover in Orlando.)
POZ Behind The Booth: Light Years (Final Update)
Light Years have finished recording their debut full-length with Will Yip (Title Fight, Circa Survive), and we’re stoked to have the band’s final Behind The Booth feature for PropertyOfZack. Check out their last update below!
From Pat Kennedy:
So we finished the record! Just in time to make the drive back to Ohio for Thanksgiving. We are all very pleased with how the record turned out. As of right now we have 13 songs and are figuring out if they will all make the cut or if some just aren’t ready to be released yet. We have decided to call the record “I Won’t Hold This Against You.” Catchy right? Maybe.
The last few days of recording were a lot of fun. We were putting the finishing touches on the record and Will had me doing some pretty crazy background vocals that really help the songs sound fuller and give them some more dynamics. Right now Will is going to begin the mixing process and we have already been talking to Escapist about artwork and the layout of the record so we can get this out as soon as possible.
We will miss all the great food around the studio and the Wal-Mart parking lot where we were living for the majority of the time. We will also miss Will who became our good friend by the end of this, and hopefully if there is another record in Light Years future we will be able to work with him again.
Can’t wait for everyone to hear the record.
POZ Behind The Booth: Light Years (Update II)
Light Years are in the studio recording their debut full-length with Will Yip (Title Fight, Circa Survive), and we’re stoked to have the band be doing a weekly Behind The Booth feature for PropertyOfZack. Check out their second update below!
From Pat Kennedy:
So since the last update a lot has gone down in the Studio.
We finished all the drum tracks and went straight into doing bass guitars. We have 13 songs to record for the record, and since we have only ever released EPs before, this is looking like a lot more work than we are used to. But it will all be worth it.
Here is a picture of Will laughing at how bad Tommy’s bass lines are.. Tommy is a pro so he laid down all his parts in about two sessions. After this we finally got to lay down the guitars!
The songs are now starting to come together and this is actually sounding like a real record! I can confidently say this will be our best record yet.
POZ Road Blog: Light Years (Update I)
Light Years are out on the PropertyOfZack sponsored Turnover and Citizen tour, which kicked off last Friday. Check out the first update below and come back each week for more!
From Pat Kennedy:
Day 1: Columbus, OH.
The tour started off with a bang! Literally, I accidentially backed into a girls car, but it was all good. The Purple Grape was packed, and a lot of friends made the trip down from Cleveland to see us off on this monster of a tour. Had a good time at the show and after watching Turnover and Citizen I was even more pumped for the tour.
Day 2: Altoona PA.
The second show was at the Masonic Temple in Altoona PA. We had played here before last summer with Citizen and I believe there were 5 people there. This time there was a much better turnout. They made us some really good food, and gave us Mt. Dew which is literally the best thing ever to get on tour. Highlight of the night, going to the Super Sheetz after the show.
Day 3: Natrona PA
Natrona is a weird little town that seems to be completely lawless and empty. Crazy burned down houses just sotting there, very eerie. The show was at Scumbag Skatepark, which is a great name, that was run by some really cool dudes. Before the show we tried to shred the ramps, but the only person who could actually skate was Casey from Turnover. The show was cool. Literally, the AC was blasting and it felt awesome.
Day 4: Allentown PA
We made the drive after the show out to Wilkes-Barre to stay with a friend. Now Wilkes-Barre was a little out of the way, but totally worth it for one reason. Pizza. The best pizza I have ever eaten in my life is Angelo’s. But! They didnt open untill 4 and we would have been super late to the show, which is a dick move. So we went to a place called Ricci’s pizza instead, and it was verrrry close to being just as good as Angelo’s. The show was at a venue called Planet Trog. It was awesome. It had a nice stage and a lot of kids came out. A band coverd Blink and all was well. Highlight of the night, the venue was connected to a laser tag park where they let us all play FOR FREE! I got dead last.
Someone should get me this….its only $9 with shipping.
